Zounds! A Browser's Dictionary of Interjections, by Mark Dunn. The author of Ella Minnow Pea helpfully defines and traces the origins of hundreds of exclamatory utterances. Some are well known: Bah! Gadzooks! Grr! Jeepers. Others, like "imbars bidbib", are uncommon enough that I wonder whether the savvy reader should apply its meaning to the tome in hand. If so, it's a clever joke embedded in an entertaining and otherwise useful little book.
