I didn't care for the Book of the New Sun series, unfortunately. Too slow.

Ah, but The Knight is intended for the YA audience!
The Wolfe books I enjoyed the most were the Book of the Long Sun series. I think it's connected to the Book of the New Sun somehow, but I'm not sure exactly how.
