O happy day!
While toiling away diligently at job #2, Suburban Public Library's reference desk, I inquired whether the person ordering the library's science fiction and fantasy materials would be interested in seeing the review sections from my subscriptions to Locus and The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. Instead, she said "Why don't you just take over ordering them?", and assigned an unexpectedly generous amount of money to last through November.
Happiness is... an acquisitions budget.

So ... how much of this acquisitions budget is going to be spent on books you'd like to get your hands on? *grins*

Oh, maybe a few.... *grin*
Seriously, though, a couple of hundred dollars or so will probably be spent beefing up the backlist. The library only has one Lovecraft title, none of Dunsany's short stories, no Peake at all, and neither Clark Ashton Smith nor Cordwainer Smith! And it's lacking several of Asimov's "Robot" books, which may see a surge in popularity when the motion picture version of "I,Robot" hits the big screens this fall.

Oops.. should have said "this summer", since IMDB lists the release date of "I, Robot" as July 16. Better get busy ordering!
