Goin' back to Cali
Tomorrow I'm off on another trip, this time to the sunny California shore. Rather ironic, considering how often I've characterized California as the Cereal Bowl of the Nation (i.e., fruits, nuts, and flakes!). Perhaps I've finally become eccentric enough to fit in there, lounging in decadent lassitude on the Pacific shore, waiting for the Big One.
In any case, January is a good time to spend an expense-paid weekend outside of Michigan.

If the UCSB job doesn't pan out, the University of Chicago is looking for a new library director!

Will you have time for site-seeing? Go see El Presidio if you get a chance.

Hey S., are you who I think you are?
I stopped by the Presidio in S.B. just as it was closing, which gave me only enough time for a quick glance around the place. It was interesting to see how the living quarters and small patio/gardens in the quadrangle wall were laid out, but on the whole it was more fun browsing aroung La Purisma Mission up near Lompoc:

That's, um, helpful.... (grin)
Guess I should have been more specific. In any case, what's your knowledge of S.B. based on? You sound like you've been there.

Never been there - just somewhere I've wanted to visit. Aside from one diving trip to Mexico and a few in the gulf, Missouri is the farthest I've ever been from home.
If you think I'm who I think you think I am, you ought to be sure now. Yes?
